The Los Angeles Lakers went into Houston tonight expecting to close the Rockets out. Well, Houston had other plans, led by Aaron brooks’ 26 points, The Houston Rockets defeat the Lakers 95-80 to force a game 7 in L.A. People give the Lakers the title of the best team in the western conference, well i don’t think they are. I think the Denver Nuggets have been playing at a higher level with more intensity. Although the Lakers lost the game tonight, I just don’t see Houston beating them in game 7 in L.A. When L.A. moves o the next round I predict that they will lose to Denver. From top to bottom, I believe that Denver has a better team than the Lakers.I’m going out on a limb, im going to say the NBA Finals will include the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Denver Nuggets. No disrespect to L.A. but they’re struggling against a Houston team without Yao Ming. This series should have already been over, but the Lakers can’t seem to get the job done. Denver is battle tested, they were in a controversial series with Dallas and came out on top. I just think Denver wants a championship more than L.A. at this point in time. I give all the credit in the world to the Houston Rockets for hanging in there, but going into L.A. and beating the lakers in game 7, not going to happen.

On the verge of being eliminated, the Orlando Magic came through with a win in game 6. Game 7 will take place Sunday in Boston. In my opinion, I think Orlando has enough to beat the C’s, but you can never underestimate the heart of a champion. My original thoughts when this series first started was, Boston has no chance without Kevin Garnett. But I was wrong. This will be Boston’s second straight 7 game series. The Orlando magic have the talent, depth, and players to beat this Celtic team, but boson has one thing they don’t, a championship ring. With that ring comes experience, knowledge, and the ability to perform under pressure. If game 7 was in Orlando, they would have a better chance, because Boston is a tough place to play. I don’t think game 7 will be won by a large margin, so far these two teams have been pretty even, so i think the margin of victory will be no larger than 8 points. I didn’t think this series would go to a game 7, but now that it has i would be surprised if Orlando comes out of Boston with a win.

After all the controversy, comments made, and hostile environments , The Denver and Dallas series comes to an end. The Denver Nuggets advance to the Western Conference Finals. When the Denver Nuggets first traded Allen Iverson for point guard Chauncey Billups, people actually thought that Detroit got the better end of that deal. Not the case, Chauncey brought leadership and control to the Denver Nuggets franchise, and they would not be here without him. If my predictions are right, and the Lakers knock out the Rockets, the Nuggets have a much tougher challenge up ahead of them. Call me crazy but i actually think the Nuggets have what it takes to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers. I was heavily cheering for the Nuggets mostly because I dislikedMark Cuban ‘s comments and i wanted his team out of the playoffs, but then i started to cheer for them because i saw that they had a lot of heart and they deserve to be here. 1985, that’s the last time the Nuggets went to the WCF and im glad they are there again because they deserve it. So to the Denver Nuggets, I say congratulations for your accomplishments.

Jason Taylor is once again a Miami Dolphin. Taylor played in Miami for 11 seasons before being traded to the Washington Redskins where he was released this off season after a injury plagued season. Taylor recorded 29 tackles and only 3 and a half sacks. The terms of the deal are 1 year and 1.5 million dollars. Taylor made a comment on his decision where he stated, “My heart has always been in Miami, and so I’m truly excited to call myself a Dolphin once again, I was presented with a number of different opportunities, but in the end the combination of this being the best situation for my family, my love for this community and my tremendous loyalty to a great organization made this an easy decision.” It seems like Taylor feels good about his decision, you know what they they say, when you feel good, you play good. I’m a fan of Jason Taylor so i hope he can rebound from a below average season.

When the Houston Rockets won game 4 against the Los angeles Lakers, everyone had high hopes for the Rockets. There were talks about Houston taking L.A. to a game 7 and even possibly knocking them out of the playoffs. Well all those talks no longer exist due to the Lakers 40 point blowout win last night. It looks like L.A. finally woke up and realized that this is the playoffs. The Houston Rockets did not show up to play last night, I thought they actually had confidence in themselves after their game 4 victory. The Los Angeles Lakers crushed whatever hopes the Rockets had. Originally I thought, without Yao, the Rockets have no chance. But then they won game 4 by a dozen and i thought they may have had a chance in this series. After last night’s demolishing, all the momentum is in L.A.’s favor. So my original thoughts were correct, the Rockets cannot win this series without Yao Ming. The Lakers will advance to the Western Conference Finals. Their opponent will most likely be the Denver Nuggets unless the Mavericks can pull off some type of miracle, but i doubt that.

That’s exactly what happened in tonight’s Orlando Magic vs. Boston Celtics game, Orlando’s offense disappeared. The 4th quarter was their lowest scoring quarter of the game, the Boston C’s out scored Orlando by 12in the 4th quarter. Glenn “”Big Baby” Davis had another big night and also led Boston in scoring, Stephon Marbury also caught fire in the 4th quarter making the first 9 of Boston’s points in the quarter. Because of Orlando’s disappearing act, they are now down 3-2 in this series and face elimination. In an earlier blog entry i stated that i knew the Orlando Magic were going to win this series, is it to late to change my opinion? The next game for them is a home game, so if they can get a win there i think they can force a game 7. But I guess i underestimated the heart of a champion, I thought Boston had no chance in this series with all the injuries they’ve suffered this season. I’m not afraid to admit i was wrong, because i was. Boston is playing good basketball in this series, they may get passed Orlando, but after all these tough playoff games they’ve had, i just don’t think they will have enough energy to get passed a ready and rested Cavaliers team.

I explained in an earlier blog entry about how Mark Cuban disrespected Kenyon Martin’s mom. Well i no longer have the same anger that i had, in a recent blog Mark Cuban Apologized for his comments which he described as” a smart ass comment that i know that no one heard”. Earlier I was hoping that the Denver Nuggets would sweep the Dallas Mavericks and that would be punishment enough for Mark Cuban. But since he did man up and apologize(well sort of, through a blog, i think it should have been face to face.) I have a little bit more respect for him. He said that he has had his family member’s spit on during away games, and I find that horrible that away fans would go that low, but i also find it completely ridiculous how the Dallas Maverick fans acted around the family members of Kenyon and Carmelo, the fans poured beer on them during the game, really? That’s just beyond low. I’ve even read reports about racial slurs being aimed at Carmelo Anthony’s girlfriend,Lala Vasquez,(some of you may know her from VH1 or MTV shows.) I’m not sure if these reports are true, but if they are something needs to be done before this series gets way out of hand. Okay, enough with the drama filled part of this series,so the Dallas Mavericks won last night 119-117 ,Dirk Nowitzki had an amazing performance with 44 points and 13 rebounds, and he is the reason the Mavs are still in the playoffs. Could this be the first 0-3 comeback in NBA history? umm….no, but I have to give the Dallas Mavericks credit for not lying down and giving up.

The Cleveland Cavaliers remain undefeated in the 2009 NBA postseason. They defeated the Atlanta Hawks in tonight’s game 84-74 to complete their 2nd straight sweep. Cleveland fans (including myself) have to be excited about the team’s performance especially as of late. But don’t book your tickets to the NBA Finals just yet. The Cavs really haven’t been tested. They swept a Detroit Pistons team that is in a re-building process, then they sweep the Atlanta Hawks, all series Atlanta looked as if they weren’t confident enough to compete with the Cavs. Although some people view the Boston Celtics as a threat to the Cavs, I dont. The only challenge i see for the Cavs is the Orlando Magic. Orlando won the regular season series and the last time out against the Cavs, they won in a blowout game. The Magic team is the only threat i see getting in the way of Cleveland getting their NBA championship. I know a lot of Laker fans disagree with that statement, but honestly, i think the Cavs can overcome the Laker’s in 5 or 6 games if they both make it to the finals. Like Isaid in a previous blog entry, Lebron James is on a mission, and nobody wants to get in his way. The Cavaliers in my mind, have deserved the label, ”best team in the NBA.” I think when they become challenged with adversity they will overcome it, even though Lebron has not yet become a champion, I think he has the heart of one.

After the controversial game 3, Mark Cuban, (Dallas Maverick’s owner) confronted Denver Nugget’s player Kenyon Martin’s mother and called her son a “thug.” Martin’s agent also claims that Cuban, a day before Mother’s Day, said “your son is a punk!” Martin’s response to all this, “I’ll take care of it.” Hopefully Kenyon doesn’t do anything stupid in tonight’s game, i hope he’s smarter than that. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying don’t address the issue, because this is an issue that needs to be addressed. Those comments are extremely disrespectful, if Cuban had an issue with Martin he should have brought it up with him ,man to man and not to his mother. My view on this issue is, Cuban Owns a team that doesn’t like a lot of physical contact, so anyone who does a little pushing or shoving is viewed as a “thug” to him. Shoot, if Steve Nash made a physical play on the ball he would call him a thug too. I pray that Kenyon Martin doesn’t do anything stupid. If he wants some time of satisfaction or revenge, how bout droppin fifty points and knocking Cuban’s team out of the playoffs instead of fighting or something stupid. If these reports are true, i think Cuban was out of place and showed signs of cowardice, because i don’t think he would have the guts to walk up to K-Mart and call him a thug or a punk. So let it be known i will be cheering for the Denver Nuggets tonight,(and my Cleveland Cavaliers of course.) Being Swept in the playoffs should be punishment enough for Mark Cuban’s comments.

You would think, with the game on the line, 1 second on the clock that the ball would go to Paul Pierce or Ray Allen. Well, not the case in tonight’s game. Glen “big baby” Davis comes up huge with a game winning shot against the Orlando Magic. When that shot was up in the air, I thought, no way that’s goin in, but it did. The C’s bench was ecstatic when that shot went in, as was I. I’m not a big Celtic’s fan, but i was glad that a player who puts in a lot of hard work got a chance to shine. Paul Pierce was double teamed when he received the ball and i thought he was just going to lob it up, when he dropped it off to Glen Davis, that’s my adrenaline started to build up. This is an excellent example of why i love the NBA, players stepping up and making the game exciting for the fans. The NBA’s catch phrase is “where amazing happens” I can’t disagree with that. Tonight’s heroic last second shot by Glen”big baby” Davis was simply “amazing.”
